SACAP is looking for a Learning Designer.
The Learning Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, co-creating, developing, updating, and implementing innovative, pedagogically sound learning experiences that align with SACAP’s academic standards, institutional objectives, and learner needs.
This includes:
- Co-creating first drafts of learning materials with AI tools and SME input.
- Updating learning content according to approved module outlines within development cycles.
- Developing interactive and other e-learning activities from scripts.
- Producing scripts and media briefs for the Multimedia Designer.
- Brainstorming, scripting, and storyboarding video content.
- Creating AI-generated podcasts for the Multimedia Designer to refine and edit.
- Producing occasional AI graphics in line with brand guidelines.
- Assisting in the pre-production process for filmed SMEs, including facilitating contracts (with SMEs and videographers), planning shoot schedules, and overseeing the filming process up to the point of handover to the Multimedia Designer.
Learning Designers collaborate extensively with subject matter experts (SMEs), curriculum specialists, the CIE’s learning technology team, and other internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality, accessible, engaging, and inclusive learning materials.
The role requires expertise in instructional design, basic academic research, assessment design, as well as strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Learning Designers adopt an AI-first mindset, strategically using AI to enhance content co-creation, interactive design, multimedia scripting, and workflow efficiency, while ensuring outputs are pedagogically sound, academically rigorous, and accessible.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication & Media Studies, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification (e.g., Master’s degree) is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in learning design, learning experience design, instructional design, or e-learning development.
- Experience creating interactive activities using H5P, Rise, or similar authoring tools.
- Experience working directly with SMEs to develop academic content.
- Experience in scripting, storyboarding, and coordinating video production processes.
- Knowledge of instructional design theories, methodologies, and online learning pedagogy.
- Familiarity with curriculum development frameworks, learning design frameworks, and learning sciences.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design best practices.
SKILLS:
- Expertise in instructional design principles and learning sciences.
- Strong AI literacy for content co-creation, scripting, and workflow optimisation.
- Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (H5P, LMS systems, SCORM) is desirable.
- Skilled in using AI tools to co-create learning content, generate ideas, structure interactives, and enhance productivity without compromising instructional quality.
- Ability to write clear, actionable media briefs.
- Competence in developing scripts and storyboards for multimedia content.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Academic research skills for identifying and citing credible sources.
- Strong facilitation and collaboration skills with SMEs and cross-functional teams.
- Project management skills for coordinating SMEs and media production

OPERATING HOURS:
This is a full-time position operating from Monday to Friday*:
- Monday – Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00
- Friday: 08:00 – 16:00
