SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology) is the leading independent provider of accredited Psychology, Counselling, Human Resource Management, Business Management and Social Work qualifications, with all courses grounded in psychology. We have campuses in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Online.
SACAP is looking for an Assistant Librarian based at our Cape Town Campus.
SACAP is looking for a dynamic assistant librarian with a strong educational background in library or information science, coupled with proficiency in library cataloging systems and management tools. Exceptional organizational skills are essential for maintaining the library collections, and the ability to provide excellent customer service is crucial for assisting patrons. Technological proficiency, research skills, attention to detail, and adaptability to evolving technologies are desired qualities. Effective teamwork and a passion for literature and learning are also important aspects of the role. The ideal candidate should demonstrate problem-solving skills and contribute to a positive working environment within the library.
The candidate will be required to perform various functions that would include:
- Organize and maintain library collections through effective cataloging and shelving practices.
- Utilize library systems and technologies for efficient information retrieval.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and offering guidance to patrons.
- Contribute to the overall organization of the library, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Demonstrate attention to detail in all aspects of library management.
- Collaborate with other library staff members for effective teamwork.
- Adapt to evolving technologies in the library environment.
- Actively promote a love of literature and learning within the community.
- Assisting any and all students as well as educators in finding resources when necessary i.e. online journals, textbooks ·
- Issuing of log-in details so students may access online resources.
- Assisting with printing and receiving of fines
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma / Degree in Library and Information Science.
- 3 – 5 years of library experience preferably in Higher Education

Operating Hours:
This is a full-time position operating from Mondays to Fridays*:
Monday to Thursday: 08:30am to 17:00pm; Friday:08:30am to 16:00pm
